Here is a page especially dedicated to listing
places of interest and good value that YOU believe are above the
average. If you have been to somewhere and thought it a really good
outing for whatever reason, then others will probably agree too.
If it is a restaurant, then please give the approx price for party
of 4 or such.
NEW!!! A great Family day out - especially
for the youngsters! See the webpage for the NERJA
DONKEY SANCTUARY
Brian sent this information to the forum on a market and restaurant
visited recently:
On Thursday's there's a very big back-street Market at Velez
Malaga. As you approach, avoid first roundabout turn to the Centre
- go on about half a mile and take the slip road leading to bridge
over road - also said for city centre, so you pass over the road
you were on. Drive up to roundabout - take (from memory) second
exit up street with shops and banks. Park asap - can use side streets
if no space on main road. Ladies will like the several bargain (but
good quality) - clothing shops and there are several of the "Euro
Shops" - old 100 peseta type - two brand new with amazing range
of goods on display. New supermarket too - excellent. Also on main
street, a very good Chinese Restaurante - inexpensive and good service
and some of the best Chinese food in the area too. Market lies in
back streets - it's very big - to left - just turn down any street
after the Y junction. Hope that proves usful to some readers! I
will post more on other towns in due course - assuming, of course,
some of you bother to post some feedback that you would welcome
this!

Brian also mentioned Rio Frio for a good
value meal, where I have been a couple of times. I think the restaurants
there are more or less the same price. Brian and his party of 8
all ate there for only €80. Do have the trout - that's what
it's all about there, and you can see them wild in the stream too!

Sally Ann and Vern have recently been to
the new 'Big Wok' restaurant near Lidl's in Antequera. They found
it great value, and for an 'eat all you can' type place, very well
presented, comfortable seating, attractive decor, with immaculate
service and excellent food. Choose from many different kinds of
food from different parts of the orient, and it is cooked fresh
for you.

HOTEL SAYDO Mollina
Have started a Sunday carvery for 8 euros or buffet for 12 euros.
Buffet is salad with choice of meats, cheese etc, followed by roast
beef, pork and chicken with fresh vegetables (cauli broccoli and
carrots) and roast potatoes. Desserts were cheecake, apple pie,
rice pudding (they are trying to attract Spaniards to eat there).
Carvery is just the main course.
Good value and only 25 minutes drive from Trabuco.
From Kathy:
We had a lovely meal at El Ventero del Trabuco, Calle Libertad,
3. We had the pork knuckle, which was delicious, and I don't think
I've ever seen that on a menu, certainly not in UK, it's more something
you would cook at home, but definitely recommended! See their menu
here: (page not
available at present 16/10/07)

Market at Casariche
This village has a large street market on Sunday mornings. It is
a much larger version of the Wednesday Trabuco market with lots
of shoes, bedding, clothes and material. It's about 45 minutes from
Trabuco, just off the motorway to Seville. A visit here could be
combined with the Donkey Sanctuary or the Flamingoes at Fuente de
Piedra and lunch at Mollina.
